Conversation with Jack Doohan, Brand Ambassador for H. Moser & Cie (pt. 2)
Jack Doohan is a name synonymous with racing, but in 2025 he carved his own path not just on the Formula 1 circuit, but in the world of fine watchmaking as well. As the Brand Ambassador for H. Moser & Cie., the Swiss luxury watchmaker, Doohan is bridging the worlds of speed and craftsmanship, bringing his unique perspective as a driver and enthusiast to the partnership. In this exclusive conversation, Jack shares insights on what drew him to the intricacies of watch design, the parallels between motorsport and high horology, and what it means to co-create a timepiece that reflects both his style and the spirit of precision engineering.
Were you into watches prior to the collaboration?
I’ve always liked watches, but more as an admirer than a collector. Growing up around motorsport, timing and precision are part of everyday life, but H. Moser & Cie. opened a completely different world to me. I started to see watches not just as instruments, but as expressions of craft and identity.
When Moser approached you to be the ambassador, what went through your mind?
Honestly, I was both excited and curious. H. Moser & Cie. isn’t a brand that follows the crowd. They’ve got this bold, independent streak. That really resonated with me. I loved the idea of working with a brand that doesn’t just put a logo on a car but actually builds something meaningful. It felt like the start of a real partnership, not just a sponsorship.

You co-designed the Streamliner Drivers Edition. What part or parts are they and did it change your perception of watches as a whole?
Being part of the design process completely changed how I look at watches. When you see how much thought and precision go into every decision, you realise watchmaking is closer to racing than you’d think. It’s about performance, emotion and details that make all the difference.
If given another opportunity to create a new watch, what will remain and what will you add?
I would definitely keep the spirit of the Streamliner. It’s such a strong, distinctive watch. I love its balance between sportiness and elegance. But I’d push the envelope a bit more: maybe explore different materials, or bring in more elements from the racing cockpit. The goal would be the same: build something authentic that connects watchmaking and racing in a way that feels natural, not forced.

Do you collect watches now that you’re working with H. Moser & Cie?
Let’s just say I’ve started down a slippery slope! Working with H. Moser & Cie. made me appreciate the stories behind each piece. I don’t just want watches that look good; I want pieces with meaning, with a soul. So yes, the collection has begun… and it’s growing carefully.
Do you have any advice for people wanting to get into motorsport?
Motorsport is one of the most incredible and toughest paths you can choose. My advice would be: stay hungry, stay humble, and be ready to work harder than anyone else. Talent is important, but resilience is what gets you through the long road. And above all, keep the passion alive. If you stop loving it, you lose the edge.
