The SuperOcean by Breitling, a product of the 1950s, was crafted for those with a flair for style, seamlessly transitioning from the ocean depths to the land and vice versa. Breitling introduces the Superocean Heritage ’57 Highlands Capsule Collection, beckoning its enthusiasts to embark on an adventurous voyage along the rugged coastlines and fog-covered summits of the Scottish Highlands.
“All our capsule collections tell a different story. For the Superocean Heritage ’57 Highlands Capsule Collection, we wanted to evoke a very specific feeling of walking in the Scottish Highlands,” said Breitling CEO Georges Kern of the exclusive collection. “From the moment you set out in a tweed jacket and wool sweater, to a day spent roaming windswept cliffs, to that welcome return home to warm up by a crackling fire, dog at your side. The Highlands Capsule Collection is designed to be there every step of the way.”
The capsule collection is limited in quantity and available only for a short duration. The watch boasts a 38 mm diameter and displays dial colours inspired by the land and sea, including beige, green, mustard, and blue shades. Echoing the design of their vintage SuperOcean predecessor, these pieces are distinguished by mid-century-style triangular indexes indicating the hours.
A unique Scottish-inspired feature of the Highlands Capsule Collection is the inclusion of a tweed-like fabric strap crafted from a luxurious mix of silk and wool. The watches are initially presented with a metal mesh bracelet but also come with an additional fabric strap in a separate pouch. This pouch includes a springboard tool, facilitating effortless strap exchanges. The fabric straps, each with a subtle tweed pattern, are carefully chosen to complement the colour of the dial: the blue dial is paired with a dark brown strap, the beige with a classic brown, and the green and mustard dials with a green strap. For those who enjoy varying their style, there’s an option to purchase an extra blue strap separately.
The timepieces in this collection are cased in a stainless-steel casing and with ceramic bezels that are exceptionally hard, resistant to scratches and shocks, and edged with 18k red gold. On the bidirectional rotating bezel, a luminescent dot pays homage to the Superocean’s roots as a dive watch.
Each watch is driven by the Breitling Caliber 10, ensuring a power reserve of around 42 hours when not in operation. True to Breitling’s reputation, these watches are COSC-certified chronometers (Contrôle Officiel Suisse des Chronomètres), providing an external validation of their accuracy and performance.
Whether wandering along rugged coastal paths, seeking refuge in a quaint inn, or just moving through your everyday routine, the Superocean Heritage ’57 Highlands Capsule Collection combines elegance and practicality, with each piece telling its own story.
