Ollech & Wajs announces the 56 M
Ollech & Wajs is excited to announce the newest watch in their collection, the 56 M.
The journey of production that commenced many years ago ends with the introduction of the Ollech & Wajs 56 M, a watch that embodies novelty and nostalgia. This watch doesn’t just get its inspiration from history; it lives a piece of history by seamlessly blending vintage components from new old stock with modern elements.
The 38mm case is from unused stocks obtained by Ollech & Wajs in the late 90s but manufactured a few years earlier. It has a timeless design that pays tribute to the military pilot watches from the late 1940s. Ollech & Wajs enthusiasts will immediately recognize its familiar appearance, reminiscent of historical models like the Valjoux 7733 Flieger and the MP series.
The bezel and dial incorporated several dots and dashes from the Morse code, blending white and beige Super-LumiNova®. The 56 M cases the last few remaining ETA-2824 automatic movements from Ollech & Wajs. These movements have been serviced and refurbished after years of being unused and kept away from sunlight.
The 56 M cases are the remaining ETA-2824 automatic movements from Ollech & Wajs. These movements have been serviced and refurbished after years of being unused and kept away from sunlight. Other components from Ollech & Wajs’ historical inventory include the traditional plexiglass crystal and the dial-in admiralty-grey hue.
Including the words ‘Ollech & Wajs’ on the dial diverges from the company’s customary approach. This decision makes the 56 M the second watch in the company’s 67-year history to have the founders’ names on the dial. Usually, their watches feature the company’s initials and are framed by the propeller monogram. This design decision ensures the 56 M can be easily distinguished as a combination of vintage and new stock. This decision prevents confusion with earlier Ollech & Wajs models that share similar components.
The bracelet is a stainless steel mesh with an engraved thorn buckle. The engraving is ‘OWZ 1956’, which showcases the watch’s historical significance.
